Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist at NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. 1996, she was hired by WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as an general reporter. She began to cover the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office in 1988. She was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism at The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her role in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on for the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of important stories including the Iran Contra scandal, fiscal tax reforms, as well as arms control. Mitchell travelled along with Ronald Reagan several times to attend summits and discuss topics like and the Iran Contra controversy.
